Questions people often ask
How much does a website cost?
A one-page Starter site is £350, and a Small business site with 4 to 6 pages is £695, including Google Business Profile setup. Hosting and care is £25 a month if you want it. You'll always get a fixed price in writing before any work starts, and there's no VAT to add. See packages and prices →
How long does it take?
A one-page site usually takes around [X] weeks, and a bigger site around [X–X] weeks. The biggest factor is usually getting the text and photos together, and I can help with that.
I'm not very techy. Is that a problem?
Not at all. That's exactly who I work with. I'll explain everything in plain English and handle the technical side for you.
Do I need to write the words and take the photos?
You know your business best, so I'll ask you for the basics. I can turn your notes into website text (an optional extra at £50 a page, or £120 for a one-page site). Good photos make a big difference, and phone photos taken in good light are often fine.
Will my website work on mobile phones?
Yes. Every site I build is designed for phones first, then checked on tablets and computers.
Will I show up on Google?
I set every site up so Google can find and understand it, and I can help with your Google Business Profile, which matters a lot for local searches. Nobody can honestly guarantee a top spot on Google, but I'll give you the best possible start.
How does payment work?
50% to start and 50% before your site goes live, so you see it finished before you pay the rest. The deposit is non-refundable once design work has started.
Who owns the website?
You do. Your domain is registered in your name, and once the final payment is made, the site is yours.
Can I update the website myself?
[Yes, for simple things like opening hours, menus and prices, and I'll show you how.] Or I can make updates for you on the care plan.
You're a student. Will you be around?
Yes. I run this alongside my degree and take on a small number of projects, so each one gets proper attention. I'll always be clear about timescales up front, including around exam periods, and I reply to messages within [one working day].
Have you worked with real clients?
Yes. My most recent project was an online leadership scorecard for Slipstream, a consultancy that works with agencies. You can see it on my Work page. I'm now taking on local businesses in Cardiff and South Wales.
Can you make my website in Welsh?
Yes. I can build bilingual Welsh/English sites with an easy language switch, for £150 on a Starter site or £250 on a Small business site. The Welsh text is supplied by you or a translator.
Do you only work in Cardiff?
I'm based in Cardiff and love working with local businesses, but I'm happy to work with anyone in South Wales, and further afield over video calls.
